Add Change Actions
Change actions are the specific configuration steps that will be executed on the target device when the change is approved. You must add at least one action before you can submit.
Before you start
- Your change request must be in
draftorrejectedstatus. - Know the specific ports and values you want to change. NetEdgeIQ shows you the current observed state (from the last discovery) next to each action so you can confirm your inputs.
Available action types
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Set port description | Updates the label/description on a specific port |
| Set port VLAN | Assigns a port to a specific VLAN in access or trunk mode |
| Set port admin state | Enables or disables a port administratively |
| Set port speed/duplex | Changes the speed and duplex setting on a port |

-
Open the change request (search for
CHG-XXXXor find it in the Changes list). -
In the change detail view, find the Change Actions or Change Plan section.
-

What happens next
- Each action is added to the change plan and listed in the change request detail.
- You can see the current observed state alongside each action to confirm you're targeting the right port with the right values.
- Actions can be added, edited, or removed as long as the change is in
draftorrejectedstatus. - Once you're satisfied, proceed to submit for approval.
Example
Scenario
Rename three ports on
DC-LEAF-2 after a rack reconfiguration. Add three
Set port description actions:
- Port
Gi0/1→Server-Rack-A-1 - Port
Gi0/2→Server-Rack-A-2 - Port
Gi0/3→UPS-PDU-A
These three actions are bundled under CHG-0004. When approved, each one executes as a separate job on the edge agent.
